Christmas Traditions Through Time with Hazel Baker
Tuesday, 16 December 2025
4.00 PMAt the beginning of the 19th century, Christmas was hardly celebrated - many businesses didn’t even treat it as a holiday. By the end of the century, however, it had become the biggest celebration of the year and began to take the form we recognise today.
In this talk, Hazel Baker, founder of London Guided Walks, will explore what makes a Victorian Christmas and delve into familiar traditions that may be older than you think.

4.00 PMKYN Hurlingham has supported the Hurlingham Foundation’s work since the homes opening year in 2024. Join new Head of Foundation Amanda Horton-Mastin to learn about the work they do in the local area and plans for the next three years.
Established in 1869 The Hurlingham Club sits opposite KYN Hurlingham in 42 acres of landscaped grounds, a haven of croquet and tennis lawns, botanical gardens and a stately Georgian Clubhouse. In 2021, The Hurlingham Club Foundation was established to make a positive difference locally by supporting people who face barriers to opportunity, to improve their health, wellbeing and reduce social isolation.
