Storytelling with Giles Abbot
Tuesday, 11 November 2025
4.00 PMA journey around the British Isles, featuring stories from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England, all linked by the themes of love and age with professional storyteller Giles Abbot tells the story.
Giles started storytelling in 1999 in response to sudden, but not total, sight loss. Since then he has become an award-winning storyteller who just happens to be the UK’s only professional blind storyteller. Giles has told stories and taught the art of storytelling at festivals such as Wilderness, as far as Germany at the International Shakespeare Festival and in the heart of London at venues such as the Rooftop at the Queen of Hoxton. He leads workshops and performs one man storytelling style performances for all ages, and for both one on one and larger groups and audiences. Between 2006 and 2012 he was the Storyteller In Residence at Chelsea Community Hospital Schools, making weekly visits to tell stories in groups or 1:1 with young patients in the classroom, at bedsides and in intensive care and burns units.

Katie Fyfe – The Stories that Matter
Tuesday, 9 December 2025
4.00 PMDaughter, at home carer and founder of Eldering Katie Fyfe tells the story of how The Dad & Dolly project came to be - a new clothing initiative launching this Christmas inspired by her Dad’s wardrobe, attitude and life experience, and by the world they now share as they navigate life with dementia. Through it, Katie hopes to show a side of ageing, caring and intergenerational connection that doesn’t get enough attention, and to challenge some of the stigma and misunderstandings around dementia.
Katie stepped back from a busy career to care for her father who is living with early-stage Alzheimer’s and from this firsthand experience founded Eldering to provide a comprehensive resource for others who are concerned about what to do and how to manage as their parents age. Katie and her father also began documenting their life with Pomeranian Dolly through @dadanddolly on Instagram with posts that radiate with their warmth and humour, and quickly went viral.
