Residents' Amalfi Hour — Friends & Family Welcome

AugustThis August, we're bringing a touch of Italian dolce vita to KYN Hurlingham with Amalfi Hour, held every Friday in The Walled Garden. Residents can enjoy Caprese salads, mini pizzas, and refreshing limoncello spritzes, all with an authentic touch from our Italian Chef Fernando, set against a vibrant Amalfi-dressed table in azure blue and lemon yellow. Our resident artist will be leading still-life painting sessions in the garden, with sun hats and handheld fans to complete the experience.

Murray Craig: Secrets of the Freedom of the City

4.00 PMJoin us at KYN Hurlingham for a light-hearted talk with Murray Craig, only the 37th person since 1294 to hold the role of Clerk of the Chamberlain's Court. Over 25 years in office, Murray conducted the ancient ceremony admitting people to the Freedom of the City of London, welcoming more than 43,000 recipients along the way. Among them were some notable names, including Morgan Freeman, Joanna Lumley, Prince Edward, JK Rowling, Dame Judi Dench and Luciano Pavarotti. Murray will share his favourite memories from these ceremonies and the stories behind one of the City's oldest surviving traditions.

Living Well with Strength & Balance

3.00 PM – 5.00 PMJoin KYN Hurlingham’s physiotherapist Ronan Briody and Physit’s Phoebe Machin and Daniel McCallum for an engaging and practical afternoon focused on moving well, building confidence and supporting independence in everyday life. This friendly session will explore how ageing can affect strength, balance and mobility, with simple guidance on the role of exercise, what a falls assessment involves, and practical demonstrations to help guests feel steadier and more confident on their feet. The talk will be followed by tea, cake and an opportunity for questions and conversation.

KYN Choir Rehearsal at St Dionis Church

3.30 PMJoin us on Monday 28 September when the KYN Choir will be singing at St Dionis Church, celebrating a year of remarkable musical growth and community. Led by the much-loved Filippo Turkheimer, and recently joined by award-winning pianist Jocelyn Freeman, the choir has become a cherished part of life at KYN Hurlingham.
Weekly rehearsals bring residents together through a repertoire spanning classic musicals, popular favourites and opera, creating camaraderie, confidence and achievement.
This special rehearsal performance celebrates a year of musical growth and community spirit, and is a wonderful example of how music can enrich mind, body and soul while helping residents connect through shared creativity and joy.

KYN Conversations: The Midlife Shift hosted by Kate Muir

3.00 PM – 5.00 PMMidlife is often reduced to a list of symptoms, but for many women it’s a far bigger transition – often while navigating a parent's own health changes in later life, a household of teenagers, or supporting the arrival of grandchildren.
Hosted in The Great Room at KYN Hurlingham by journalist, women’s health campaigner and documentary-maker Kate Muir, join Dr Enone McKenzie, Dr Elise Dallas, and Dr Ute Liersch for an afternoon of expert insight into what’s really happening for women at this stage of life, and how to move through it with greater confidence. Guests are warmly invited to stay on afterwards for an optional look around KYN Hurlingham.

Flamenco Dance by Lourdes Fernández

Born in Madrid and now based in London, Lourdes has built an international career as a dancer, choreographer, and artistic director, bringing the passion and precision of flamenco to audiences around the world.

Live Ballet with Karya Duru

2.30 PMProfessional ballet dancer Karya Duru joins Bickley for a special live performance. Trained at the Central School of Ballet and The Sylvia Young Theatre School, Karya has performed at some of London's most celebrated venues, including the London Coliseum, and has appeared in productions with English National Ballet.
With a career spanning ballet, theatre and screen, she combines technical excellence with expressive artistry. Karya is also a dedicated ballet and Pilates instructor, sharing her passion for movement across London.
