Zena works with families navigating some of the most sensitive decisions around health, welfare, property and affairs - both through and outside the Court of Protection. Her work spans capacity, best interests and community care law, guided by the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Care Act 2014, the Human Rights Act 1998 and the High Court's Inherent Jurisdiction. This includes powers of attorney, deputyship, deprivation of liberty, safeguarding, repatriation, hospital discharge, care funding, and matters under the Mental Health Act 1983, as well as investigations by the Office of the Public Guardian.
Zena's particular strength lies in resolving family disputes with care and discretion, helping people reach agreement without the need for court proceedings. Where litigation can't be avoided, she brings the same expertise to any matter within the Court of Protection's jurisdiction.
